These sausages are fabricated with California Reaper peppers, jalapeƱos and chilli powder. Unsurprisingly, they are very spicy. Of all the vegan pigs we tested, these were probably the near generous-looking, with large sausages wrapped in plenty of vegan salary. They weren't as impressive when it came to gustatory modality or texture. Not bad by any means, but the bacon is very mealy and dries out in the oven. The sausage does have good bite to it at least.

£2.l for x (270g)

Morrisons vegan pigs in blankets

Very like to Sainsbury'southward accept on the genre, these had a most-identical bacon (which ended up being a fleck besides dry and crispy) and a well-textured, if unremarkable, sausage centre.

Asda Extra Special Vegan Spiced Apple & Orange Cocktail Sausages

£2.75 for 12 (192g)

Asda vegan spiced christmas sausages
Serving proffer: Asda

Asda'due south submission has neither blanket nor duvet, and is simply a festive-flavoured vegan sausage. We tasted them anyway, because we don't turn down a sausage when nosotros're offered one. Overall, these divided the console. The vegetarians felt the spiced fruit season was bogus and overly orangey and sweet, while the meat eaters were much happier, particularly with the sausage'southward texture. Worth a bash; the worst that'll happen is that they'll need slathering in gravy.

Purchase from Asda

The vegan pigs in pastry

A large portion of the vegan offering this year was made upward of pigs in pastry (often called duvets, but not ever). These are a split category of Christmas snacking since they are far too big and filing to be a suitable presence on a Christmas dinner plate. Of grade, it'due south up to you lot, but we reckon these will exist better on a cafe.

M and S plant kitchen pigs in duvets

Our favourite pastry-covered vegan sausages. Even meat eaters volition enjoy these thick, vegan pastry 'duvets' surrounding impressively convincing chorizo-way sausages. Well suited to an evening buffet rather than on a lunch plate due to the very filling pastry and unusual filling.
